PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

Built in the 1934, the Kuala Lumpur & Selangor Chinese Assembly Hall (KLSCAH) was gazetted as heritage building by the National Heritage Department in July 2007, located at Jalan Maharajalela, Kuala Lumpur. Since then, the Hall became a hub to promote educational and cultural activities within Chinese community in Kuala Lumpur which fulfils the idea of unifying the Chinese community.

The restoration and addition works to this existing three-storey hybrid architecture style building from the combination of Neoclassical, Eclecticism and Anglo-Chinese styles, intends to create new meanings with blending the passing of historical periods and different style of building elements with new structure and modern building material for modern uses. The reprogramming of old spaces with additional structure and infrastructure makes the place authentic through an unusual blend of restoration and new space creation, which in turn can lead to a unique cultural heritage experience.

The building exterior was carefully restored according to its history and canonic traditions and ornaments, and subsequently added with new spaces and infrastructure with more pragmatic functions to Ground Floor main function hall, other event halls and offices on above levels. The changes allow the reimagining of history and traditions through devotion to heritage restoration and creating of new spaces to be used in the contemporary needs.

The newly completed restoration and addition Hall becomes one of Kuala Lumpur's largest and most versatile cultural function spaces accommodating 1200 to 1500 guests for cultural functions and events with ease.
